This is Georgia Southern University's very own hackathon! SouthernHacks was started in 2020 by a group of passionate and dedicated hackers who wanted to bring the full hackathon experience to our campus and neighboring community for the first time. Because of you, SouthernHacks 1.0 was an amazing success! Thank you for your attendance and participation. Because of you, we strive to reach higher every year!
As we load into the new year, we would also like to announce this year's theme: L.O.A.D. into the future. SouthernHacks is committed to Learning, Opportunity, Accessibility, and Diversity, and will focus on ensuring every aspect of the hackathon is designed with L.O.A.D. in mind. We continue to build, hack, iterate, and succeed. We cannot wait to see you on March 26-28, 2021!
We are so excited to see what you will make!
The SouthernHacks Team
SouthernHacks 2.1 is oriented around L.O.A.D., four principles that govern all talks, activities, and challenges. Each letter represents a different principle that we strive to embrace with excellence.
Learning is the process of acquiring knowledge and skill through experience, study, or instruction. Everyone should have access to high-quality materials for self-improvement.
Opportunity is being in a good position to achieve success. Everyone should be in a position to take full advantage of opportunities.
Accessibility is the ability to access all information, regardless of any impairments, disabilities, or assistive technology needs.
Diversity is the unexceptional inclusion of everyone, no matter their nationality, appearance, beliefs, opinions, preferences, or interests.
